the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre, under the common slogan Finally
at Home! the 30th Ambient Ljubljana - Furniture and Interior Fair and the4th Dom Plus Fair with the offer of joinery,
heating and cooling equipment, prefabricated houses and equipment around the
house have been opened. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia Mr. Marjan
Šarec held the opening ceremony of both fairs. We also presented awards and
recognitions for the design surpluses of this year's Ambient Ljubljana. The
highest recognition - Top of the Top - among the five award-winning products
selected by the Special Commission on behalf of the Ljubljana Exhibition and
Convention Centre, has been awarded to the Pirnar Company for their door
pullers (designer Gašper Pirnar), as they stated in the rationale, for a great
mix of functionality, technology and aesthetics.
Both fairs presented
a total of 233 companies from 21 countries.
The guests were also addressed by the
director of the Ljubljana Exhibition
and Convention Centre, Mr. Iztok Bricl, MSc, who said at the
anniversary: “… in 1990, they organized the first fair called the Ljubljana
Furniture Fair. It exhibited all kinds of furniture and furnishings for homes,
hotels, offices and other public premises. Even then, the furniture exhibition
was accompanied by a professional program with advice from designers. The
Ljubljana Furniture Fair defied all the changes that were the result of new
political and economic conditions in the newly created country of Slovenia. It
was a kind of testing ground to trial how solid a bridge would withstand the
times of recession, the massive collapse of timber processing factories and the
furniture industry. It was increasingly becoming the Ambient where carpenters,
mostly family businesses, with its products were standing out.
In 2010, we
renamed the exhibition to Ambient
Ljubljana - Furniture Fair and enriched it with a series of new projects
that emphasize the importance of design and try to bring it closer to the
general public. To the TOP 5 fair
awards, we added the exchange and the exhibition of young designers and
architects called the TOP Ideas, as
well as architectural consulting called TOP
