Ambient Ljubljana - the spaces of design

Ambient Ljubljana - furniture fair opens its door next week. At the biggest exhibition of furnishing with the latest trends in the region between Milan and Vienna, taking place from Tuesday till Sunday, from 7 – 12 October, all ranges of furniture, lighting, decorative textiles and accessories are presented. In 2014, the fair hosts 206 companies from 20 countries. At their exhibiting spaces, the exhibitors offer consulting and discounts, some of which are valid up to five months after the fair. The GR-Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre as the organizer enable the visitors to useEmonika parking space; parking is included in the ticket price until all parking spaces are taken.

The 25th fair spins its spaces, enlivened by some new projects:

The DESIGN WEEK:  a new brand organized by the GR-Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre and Zavod Big at their events, Ambient Ljubljana and The Month of Design, on the premises of the former printing house Mladinska knjiga: various events - exhibitions, workshops, presentations etc. The visitors who want to attend several events during the Design Week Ljubljana can purchase a ticket for one event for full price while the ticket for another event isreduced. Between the two locations visitors can commute by city bus with a ticket for one or the other event.

TOP 5 awards and TOP OF THE TOP award are granted by the GR-Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre for the most innovative and creative products exhibited at the fair. They are selected by a special international jury. The awarded products are presented at their own exhibition throughout the fair.

TOP IDEAS - the exhibition and exchange of young, mostly not-yet-established   designers and architects dealing with interior living culture; here they have an opportunity to present themselves to the industry as well as to the wider public, both of which show an increasing interest in their work. This year they are joined by their colleagues from neighbouring Croatia.

The partner country of the 25th furniture fair Ambient Ljubljana is the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Architect Rianne Makkink from the design studio Makkink & Bey created a fascinating overview of contemporary Dutch design in the real living space of the house renowned for its exceptional architecture. 

In the morning from Tuesday to Saturday, the Embassy of the Netherlands offers organized free transfer from the GR-Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre to the exhibition:
-    at 10:00 a.m. for professional public
-    at 12:00 a.m. for wider public

Rianne Makkink
 is also a member of the international jury for the selection of outstanding TOP 5 products presented at 2014 fair. At the City platform of the GR-Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre you can see Tulpi chairs by Dutch design studio Tulpi-design.

Exhibition Experience Italian Ceramics Design Made in Italy

Visitors can see some of the products of bathroom ceramics and furnishing by the following Italian brands: Arbi, Catalano, Fincibec, Florim, Gessi, Gsi, Jacuzzi, K8, Ritmonio and Samo. The exhibition is a result of the collaboration with Slovenian companies Kersan and Krisma.

Italy tells its story through designed objects which invoke Italian lifestyle, mirror the tradition and look into the future. Due to its innovative creativity, Italian design has determined global guidelines and left an indelible trace in design. The genius of Italian architects and designers has combined with the trade knowledge and skills of Italian producers which have, in constant search for new materials, forms and technologies, persistently invested in product innovation to improve them and bring them to perfection. The result of their efforts is smart and lasting design. 

ICE - Agency for promotion abroad and internationalization of Italian companies at the Department of the Embassy of the Republic of Italy for economic promotion presents Experience Italian Design with a round table discussion and an exhibition dedicated to the promotion of Italian brand Made in Italy. The event, second in a row, is organized as part of Italian Festival in Slovenia 2014.

The guest in the round table discussion is Italian architect Barbara Delucca, the executive head of the project in the office Iosa Ghini Associati in Milan, which unites engineers and designers of different nationalities and environments. In addition to vast design-related experience from working for significant Italian furniture producing brands, the office is distinguished for an extensive portfolio of projects for stores and museums,  buildings and premises for city and airline transfers, hotels, selling points and concept stores built in Europe, America and Asia for important international groups such as Ferrari, Capital Group, IBM Italia, CMC Group Miami, Seat Pagine Gialle, Alitalia and many more.

Massimo Iosa Ghini
, the founder of Bolidismo group, studied at the Polytechnic in Milan. Since 1985 he has worked within the avant-garde of Italian design, collaborating with Memphis group with Ettore Sottsass. Massimo Iosa Ghini has an international reputation, having created numerous design and architectural projects all over the world and received many significant awards such as Good Design Award, granted by Chicago Athenaeum, Red Dot Award and iF Product Design Award in Germany, Roscoe Award in USA, IAI Award Green Design Global Award and IAI Awards in Shanghai. In 2013, the most important institution of Italian project Triennale in Milan dedicated an entire anthology to his 30-year professional career - from its beginnings to today’s sustainability which is now again presented by MAMbo - Museum of contemporary art in Bologna.

The round table discussion will take place in an open and synergic dialogue with significant representatives of Slovenian design such as the office of Bevk Perović architects and Miha Klinar, Gigodesign, and Nada Vodušek as moderator.

EVENT: Creativity Knows No Borders - creative industries as new opportunities for international collaboration

The Regional Centre of Creative Economy (RCKE) innovatively connects creative communities with educational and research institutions, aiming at encouraging the development of creative-innovative economy, which will be able to compete at domestic and foreign markets. This is the reason why this year, within Creative Startup project, Croatian designers were invited to participate in Top Ideas exhibition, thus adding it an international note. Producing and encouraging creative projects is one of the topmost goals of the Centre’s activities. At the Top Ideas exhibition space, the participants of the Top Ideas exhibition are offered free consulting from the following areas: mass financing, protection of intellectual property, marketing of new products.
